She'd only been a teenager. Just a silly, hopeful girl with dreams too loud and a heart far too soft. And when she fell in love, she did it the way only teenagers can: completely recklessly, without looking left or right. All she saw was him. Alex.

Her first real love. The kind that fills your lungs, slips beneath your skin, and sets up camp in places you didn't know existed. At the time, it felt like the beginning of something enormous. Something permanent.

Maybe it was one of those textbook teenage romances that everyone secretly hopes will turn into a grown-up love story. The kind where you ride the wave through university, then settle down into adulthood, wedding rings and baby showers and "they lived happily ever after".

But life doesn't care much for fairy tales. And even less for teenage dreams.

Because in the real world, people change. And sometimes… they just vanish.

At first, it was gradual. The calls became shorter. Less frequent. Messages were left on read. Conversations stretched thinner, until they snapped. And then one day, without even a goodbye, Alex disappeared.

Vanished. Not metaphorically - literally. He was just gone.

She searched. Desperately. Called, wrote, begged mutual friends for answers.
Nothing. Silence.

Audra even went to the police. Her hands had trembled as she tried to explain what was happening, voice catching on words she didn't want to say out loud. "Missing person". "Vanished boyfriend". "No family contact".

But they said they couldn't help. She wasn't family. She was just a girlfriend. No legal status. No right to ask. No real claim to his life. Just another heartbroken nobody left behind.

She had never felt so invisible.

And then came the fallout: the months where everything crumbled.
