XXXI - A gift from the stars
Arriving in Italy, the vacation home was flooded with family. Smiling faces, laughter, and cheerful chatter filled every square inch of the cozy abode. There was many things to celebrate, but none more important than that of family. A very special birthday, Ronny's thirty-second year around the sun.
Chloe always loved this day, it was her favorite day of the year - right up there next to the likes of Christmas and their anniversary. It was a day always spent with her husband and their son; and given that Milo was already eighteen - these small moments where he made the time to send with them was more than cherished. A family tradition that was never forgotten about, no matter where life took them - the Roadknights always made the time to celebrate their birthdays together.
Chloe was putting the finishing touches on the cake with the help of Milo; a lemon cake with blueberry flavored star sprinkles this year - with the citrus picked fresh off the tree that grew in the yard. Bringing the cake and the coffee cups out onto the patio, Chloe felt a rage of butterflies swirl in her stomach. She did not know how Ronny would react to the surprise, hidden at the bottom of his coffee a la Chloe. She recalled, how terrified she was when she became a mother for the very first time.
Yet, this time was different. This time she was ready - this time she was filled with an abundance of love in purest form. "Earlier, you had asked how your birthday could get any better..." Chloe smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist as they were enjoying their coffee and cake. "How about adding one more to the party? A little Roadknight." she said softly, a warm crimson hue painted her cheeks. Meeting his gaze, Chloe's eyes reflected all the love she carried for him and then some.
"A gift from the stars. Happy Ronny Day, my love..."
