On the Frontlines with Doctor Jourdain
I'll let you into a secret about doctors. We're just regular people who have read lots of books. Some are in it for the money or the prestige. Some want to please their family or attract a partner. I like to think I got into it to help people in need. So when I heard someone was suffering from the flu earlier today, I grabbed my medical kit and went to check it out.
When I saw the patient, I could tell something was wrong. I've seen flu cases before, but this wasn't just any flu. It was something new. Maybe even dangerous. I was scared, but more than anything, I wanted to help this person feel better. Luckily there's something about having the medical gear that gives that extra confidence. I've done this dozens of times, I told myself. I smiled and told the patient everything would be okay. I didn't know it would, but sometimes you have to manifest these things. Thankfully, it worked out.
When we analyzed the strain at the local medical center, we found out that I had discovered an unknown strain of the disease! Thank Kobe that it was contained. The patient recovered and new medicines and vaccines are being prepared as we speak. It still feels surreal, but I guess it goes to show that sometimes when deep down you want to help, you find people who need you. And you can do it.
