Being An Eason Sometimes Is Hard

The Easons were gathering in the backyard. Those who were gradually moving to Glasgow had rushed over for the clan’s big event: a football practice.

-Are you serious?- Ru said to her mother, Ciara, while showing her a football with a huge smile on her face.

-Don’t be boring, come practice! Otherwise, you’ll be a substitute when the Eason team is formed.

The idea of being a substitute didn’t comfort her in the least. When people run, Ru thought with horror, they sweat, their makeup runs, their hair gets messy, and worst of all, no one ever looks beautiful running around like a chicken on a field. The eldest of the Eason daughters sighed and looked at her sisters with disdain, as they ran, trained, exercised, and talked about technique. Weirdos.

Ru let her clothes fall as she walked, grabbed a camera, and winked at Rosalinda.

-Sorry, girls, I can’t today. I have to go be beautiful over there.

The Eason project was underway, but some Easons were too much Eason to flow with the others.
