Special Lyrics

there is a legend, a very old one
about a huge ancient kingdom
during their week-long seasonal feast
the queen was kidnapped by a monstrous beast

the king found a man who knew the way
straight to the creature's home in a cave
they set off to bring the queen back home
and the next day all three return, but each one alone

there is a problem, it is quite the thriller
they all claim to be the monster's killer
if that weren't enough, they all also said
the other two had the hero betrayed

the people didn't know who to believe
they were freed of the monster, and thus relieved
but who was their hero to be cheered
that was the question on the streets heard

it was decided a trial should be had
to decide which one wasn’t lying or mad
a trial it was, with some truth and some lies
but before the verdict came the big surprise

the big surprise: the monster’s still alive
and not only that; to the town it arrived
so each one of the trio was an appalling liar
but the monster’s stance was altogether higher

it merely stated the facts of the case
before taking off to the sky with great haste
“I’ll leave behind the realm of men
since you’re turning it into a lion’s den”

the people were baffled, and the monster gone
it seems that in this story nobody won
appearances lie, and so does humankind
the moral of the story I’m sure you can find
