Special Lyrics

Have spent days and nights searching for grandpa’.
All the way from Rocky Mountains to Kansas but in vain.
Now I’m exhausted and tired with a horse that can barely walk.
I’m going to stay the night at grandpa’s mansion.
I need to clear my head and get focused.
Maybe sleeping there will put me on the right track.

Dear ol’ grandpa’ where are ya at? I’ve been looking all over.
I can’t find you anywhere, it’s like you’ve vanished from the map.

My dreams were disturbed in the middle of the night.
It sounded like movement coming from below.
I pulled out my six-shooter and descended the stairs.
Moving with caution towards the sounds below I started thinking.
A flashback memory of a basement I used to play in as a kid.
I was told it got destroyed years ago by flooding.
Was that a lie or was it just my imagination?

Dear ol’ grandpa’ where are ya at? I’ve been looking all over.
I can’t find you anywhere, it’s like you’ve vanished from the map.

I pulled open the rusty ol’ basement door and stepped inside.
I stopped in surprise as I noticed lights below.
With sturdy steps I rushed down the stairs waving my gun.
The sight that met my eyes made me halt in surprise.
There was ol’ grandpa’ with Brandy, a local town girl, in his lap.
His toothless mouth, ever grinning, bursted out in a laugh.
He tossed the naked chick aside and came to greet me.
With tears in my eyes I holstered my gun and fell in his arms.

Dear ol’ grandpa’ what have you been up to? Been looking for ya’ all over.
Spent days and night searching. It was like you’ve vanished from the map.

He tilted his head and said: Dear boy don’t ya get it?
I took yer gun to lure ya here and test yer faith.
To find out if ya would try to find me.
Now that I know I’ll let ya inherit the ol’ mansion.
The girl here’s just for playin’ so it wouldn’t get borin’.

The mystery resolved and everything in order.
Grandpa’ pulled out a couple of glasses and invited me to join in.
In grandpa’s basement we laughed and shared some Brandy.
The night was long and the morning longer.

Yeeeehaaaaaa!

Finally I saddled off and saddled on.
With the sun in my back I started to ride home.
Whistling a happy tune I polished my six-shooter.
Time to get back home.

Home... home sweet home.
