There's no need to complicate, our time is short;
Spring. The sun was perfect, or so Nixie told Kaiden, who was carrying Tyra on his back on their way to Ostia beach, a few kilometers from the capital, Rome. It wasn’t one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, it wasn’t the sunniest day of the year, but she didn’t need anything more than that; she just wanted a drink, a spot on the sand, and to share that day with two of the most important people in her life.
If she was completely honest with herself, she felt proud just for leaving the house while life was finally happening again, but at the same time she was calm, completely at peace about having no commitments for that month. And as she walked, breathing easily while crossing the streets, she watched the people around her, talking along the way about local customs with her brother, remembering their childhood, and sharing little things with Tyra, who seemed excited about visiting the city. That was all Nixie needed: the smallest hint of sun and a beach, she could handle the rest.
