Tour Blog: Maceo is Back on Track

Dear Miss, dear Mister,
this is your Maceo Hathaway writing, saxophonist, singer, and officially back in the Popmundo game.

After what felt like ages offstage, I’m now right in the middle of my comeback world tour with my band GROOVE. We’ve played 16 shows so far – 16 nights full of stage fright, off-notes during soundcheck, perfect moments under the lights, and that addictive applause you just can’t get anywhere else.

My conclusion so far?
It feels damn good to be back on stage.
That feeling when the lights go down, I lift the sax, and the crowd suddenly goes quiet… that’s exactly why I came back. And yes, I really do feel that people are loving it. You can see it in their faces, hear it in the calls for encores, and feel it when someone comes up after the show with shining eyes and says, “Thank you, Mister Hathaway.”

If you know me, you know I’m a little old-fashioned.
I go on stage in a suit, polished shoes, handkerchief for the sax in my breast pocket. I like to address people as “Miss” or “Mister” – not as a joke, but out of respect. For me, music isn’t just making noise; it’s also a kind of courtesy toward those who are listening.

What’s still missing?
The band family isn’t complete yet. GROOVE is there, but I’m still hoping to find more band members who are into this classic, stylish sound – people who look forward to rehearsals as if they were already the show, and who aren’t afraid to step on stage in a suit.

The tour goes on, the coffee gets stronger, the eye bags get darker – but every time I walk on stage, I know this is exactly the right way back.
