𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙧𝙮 🔥
A couple of popyears ago, when I started creating the whole universe behind both albums Midnight Theme and Midnight Theme: All Nite, two fears haunted me.
The first one was that releasing a playful, goofy, and completely sexy album right after such a deep and meaningful project like 'catharsis' would give people the wrong impression about my career – that people would see it as a downgrade.
The second and last one was about how people would perceive me after such a long and loud “sexy era” and how long that image would last.
I didn’t know the answers to those fears, but I wanted to take the risk and thank Kobe I did. Because I had so much fun being the “boy toy” and singing about my sexual endeavors in every possible way and angle. I got to collaborate with some of my amazing friends (it was my first release in years to feature other artists!), I had my first radio hits, and even my buns were a hot topic (people also talked about me when I showed up at an award show wearing nothing but underwear #controversy).
Wow, what an album. What an era. Last week marked the anniversary of Midnight Theme: All Nite, the release that closed the “Boy Toy” chapter. I’m still undeniably proud of everything this project gave me and how it managed to make a difference in people’s lives by bringing a little fun and boldness. To celebrate, both albums are the soundtrack of my week.
Thank you, Midnight Theme. And thank you, Boy Toy, for everything.
