[Paper airplanes]

She was cradling the baby to her chest, his head on her shoulder, as both of them slept. It was a sight that sent so much warmth flooding into David's heart. She had always been amazing with children. Especially the youngest of them.

David had never been able to openly think about it before, but he did now freely. He couldn’t help but picture the future. A future where the two of them could finally be together without having to hide it. It was a future where he saw a scene just like this. However without responsibilities and a child that was one of their own.

That’s when David paused. The moonlight on her skin, the way she looked in this moment. He felt himself falling even deeper. He wanted to kiss her, to pull her close. To share a real kiss with her, not one when he is drunk or she's drunk. A real kiss.

"Why won’t you take me out, Valentine?" She asked, voice just a whisper.

He felt vulnerable because there were many reasons. He decided to tell her the truth, the bone truth as to why. Not the false truths he tells himself about her. About why he can’t have her.
