burning this when i feel sober again.
Life has this annoying way of pushing people away, right? And for a long time, I believed it would always be like this. People come and go, never really staying. The few times I trust in keeping someone close, it's like life laughs in my face by taking them far away. Your absence was like that, another person who walked away for whatever reason. I moved on, or at least, I tried not to look back for you.
The truth? I missed you. More than I wanted to admit. I got used to not expecting much from others, but then you showed up, with that smile that always disarms me, as if you had never left. And as if, for a moment, I had been teleported back to when we were just teens hanging out with no clue of what to do with the future.
Of course, my first reaction was to throw a glass of water at you and call you by that ridiculous nickname, Mimi, just to see if you were still the same. And you rolled your eyes and punched my shoulder, calling me Chris. You hadn't changed at all.
It scares me a little. Because what if you leave again? I don't like getting attached, I don't like feeling this strange pang in my chest. But for now, you're here. And as much as I try to act indifferent, it feels good to have you back.
No matter what happens this time, I hope I can finally make you realize that you don't just have that idiot as brother. You have me too. And if necessary, I'll kill you before you try to run away again. I love you, little sis. (and I won't say it again)
