a toast to forever

Paris. Romeo & Kiana's wedding. Day 50, year 145.

No matter how fiercely Atticus and Sunshine tried to make time stand still, the world kept on relentlessly spinning at a vertiginous rate. The years that neither of them wanted to acknowledge passed by, and as if trying to prove that maybe the only downside of aging were the wrinkles, life showered them both with wonderful moments that would be forever etched in their memories.

This was one of those moments.

Atticus stood up, holding a glass of champagne in his hand, a grin so wide it barely fit on his face. Even when he wasn't the most eloquent public speaker, promises were meant to be kept.

"As we all know, a wedding isn't a wedding until the tipsy favorite uncle — sorry not sorry, Ronny — makes a toast, and we also know that the title comes with nephew embarrassment rights. It is what it is, Sport," Atticus gave Romeo a shrug, amusement written all over his face.

"However, I have none of those silly and funny childhood stories, because this handsome groom is borderline perfect — shoutout to our favorite Country Chick for raising such a gentleman.

I was fortunate enough to be adopted as an uncle by the cutest little kid who grew up waaay too fast, and today is getting married to the love of his life. He's always been a cheerful, happy person, but honestly, I've never seen him happier than he's been with Kiana by his side.

I was fortunate enough to be welcomed with arms wide open into this loving family, our chosen family. Kiana, you've been part of it for quite a while now, and today, we get to raise our glasses and officially celebrate the luck you both had in finding your soulmates, your one true love.
