“Wise choices? Yeah, Leta and I are going to turn in and watch some French soaps.” Silas said with a playful wink before going to grab his girl. Max chuckled to himself.
“How far do you think they’ll get into those soaps?” Elliott looked amused.
“The TV will never come on. He’s feral.” Max laughed his ass off.
“He did say it’s been six years,” Elliott said, amusement touching his features — this was what he needed, laughter, watching his cousin madly in love with their girls.
“And … with that note, Alice shouldn’t really be on her feet that much, so I’m going to call it,” Max said with a smile. “See you tomorrow for brunch. You rolling with Hunt?”
“Of course. I’m not sitting at the kids table.” Elliott laughed.
“Mhm. Very well, gonna look forward to saying I told you fucking so. Just know your ass can’t be nonchalant with me, we practically live together. Good night.” Max grinned as he squeezed his shoulder, leaving him alone — until a few seconds later, Hunter appeared — water in hand.
“Is everyone in this family married? Or dating? How dreadful. And lonely.” Hunter surveyed the room.
“We’re at a wedding, Hunt. We’re supposed to be celebrating love.” Elliott waved his hand over the whole venue.
“No, you misunderstood me. How dreadful and lonely for us.” Hunter said with a straight face before Elliott started laughing, and he didn’t stop until he had tears in his eyes. “Was I that funny before?” Hunter whispered.
“Fuck no.” Elliott laughed. “But as someone just said… Good things come to those who wait, brother.”
“Smells like bullscrap,” Hunter grumbled before stalking off once more. Elliott basked in the silence, not allowing it to consume him but appreciating what it was worth.
