Emma hadn’t expected to see him that night — not there, not then, not after everything. He looked the same, yet different. Older, maybe softer in the eyes, like life had roughed him up a little too.
The teasing came easy — maybe too easy. It was safer than saying I missed you, safer than admitting that just being near him again made her pulse skip. But when her tattoo gun touched his skin, something shifted.
