Shanghai’d by Love
Let me set the stage.
Shanghai. Neon lights, skyscrapers, dumplings that ruined my lipstick. My band and I just landed after a flight where my daughters slept like a corpse while I survived on airplane wine and sheer willpower. Normal chaos.
But then—plot twist straight from a cheesy romance movie—guess who else is in Shanghai?
JAN.
Yes, that Jan. My husband. The one with the cheekbones and the electric guitar and the habit of leaving his socks everywhere.
Turns out, his band rolled into town the same night. Same city, same vibe, same hotel… different floor, because somebody snores like a cement mixer.
Anyway, the reunion was… passionate. Explosive. Biblical. I missed him so much I climbed him like a tree. Multiple times. Reader, he did not walk straight the next morning.

But fate is a petty little drama queen. Because as I’m putting on my eyeliner, smug and satisfied, Jan gets yanked out of bed by his crew—something about “soundcheck” and “bro you’re late.” He limped out like a baby giraffe. I waved sweetly. He flipped me off. It was romantic.
Meanwhile, I’m now on stage in a glittery outfit, pretending I’m not sore myself and singing my lungs out while wondering if Jan’s been duct-taped to a mic stand in some dive bar across town.
Shanghai, you wild, chaotic goddess. Thanks for the accidental rendezvous. Next time, maybe give us one more night and less kidnapping, yeah?
