Summer held her phone up to Everett, proudly showing off the photos from her new campaign. She expected at least a mildly supportive reaction, but instead his brows shot up before he leaned closer, squinting at the pictures like they were optical illusions or poorly disguised forgeries. “So they gave you options to do rude or cute—and you chose cute, huh?” he stared as if something was deeply, cosmically wrong with them. Ev finally dragged his gaze from the screen to her face. “Sorry, Sunny, but cute doesn’t suit you. Rude AF with attitude is way more your style.”

She rolled her eyes so dramatically it was a miracle they didn’t get stuck, then pulled her phone out of his hands before he could add anything else. “You wouldn’t recognize ‘cute’ if it bit you” she flipped him off as she exited the pics and immediately sent them to Dulce instead. At least she understood her better than her own brother—or at the very least, she had the decency not to roast her on sight.

Looking at the pics again, this time without his commentary hovering over her shoulder, she actually loved them. Enough to make a mental note to order a few of the prettiest pieces for herself—and for Dulce. If she was going to lean into ‘cute’ she figured she might as well drag her bestie into the chaos with her.
