How Everything Started

Gio walked with her mother after an intense day at school that had managed to discourage the little girl. The adaptation was not going very well, as many classmates found her somewhat conceited and overly capricious. They didn't understand her diva soul. Gio didn't pay much attention to them, as she had always felt like a "fish out of water."

-What's wrong, my love?- Bruna asked when the two stopped to sit and catch their breath for a bit.

Giovanna didn't respond immediately. Her mind recalled how she had come to join her life with Bruna's. It wasn't too long ago. The little girl's biological parents had left the world when she was just a baby. With no family left in the world, an orphanage took care of her. It was a... gloomy place. Ugly. Gray. And no, the other children didn't understand her either.

One day, Gio decided to escape from the place. It was a hot morning, one of those that could fill your soul with colors... but she wore a boring gray dress. There was no pink. No style. No feelings. So, Gio gathered all her strength, opened the door, and ran as fast as she could before anyone could notice.

She assumed no one would miss her. She left no friends behind. Not a place where her mom would stay calm if she hadn't... Well, Gio ran so much and with such determination that she bumped into Bruna. Bruna was dressed in pink with shades of yellow and green. Full of life and light. The young brunette understood from Gio's clothes where she came from and from the fear in the girl's eyes what she had done. Gio hugged her with all her strength, and they never separated again.

Giovanna's face fills with happiness again. She looks at her mother, smiling.

-Nothing, mommy. I love you so much!
