Any rockstar will tell you that on tour is where the magic happens, you cant bottle it, a lot of it sits in the quiet moments, the hotels, late night laughs. Is where you feel you belong, you are where you are supposed to be, even when your miles away from where you started.
I used to love touring, but now... now it feels different, now its not just the band, its family. The tour bus is our home.
I remember the days, it was me and Johnny, we were barely friends, but we had that bond on stage.
Fast forward a few years, now it us on stage, my family, my beautiful wife Cherry, and my brother and sister in law, Johnny and Nessa. We just click and love each other so much.
But the latest member of our crew, we call him the head roadie, our William Levi.
At first he'd sit watching an ipad with his headphones on, or watching us rehearse with those wide eyes like he was trying to decode a langauge nobody had tought him, but lately, hes started humming, tapping, leaning into the sound like its waking something up in him.
He's got timing, curiosity and that spark that you cant teach. Music is starting to claim him, the way it claims Cherry and me.
Seeing that... seeing him feel music does something to me, something hopeful.
For the chaos of tour life, the dressing room, sleepless flights, there is nothing more beautiful than watching someone you love find their rythtm.
And as we watch his little passport fill with more and more stamps, it reminds me, this band, this life, this dreeam, it isnt just mine any more.
Its ours.
And the day William Levi decides to pick up an instrument.
Well... lets just say the world had better brace itself.
